A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for mountain areas of southern Oregon from 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through 9:00 p.m. Wednesday above 4,000 feet.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said wet snow is expected at elevations as low as 3,500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches of snow is forecast for elevations between 4,000 and 5,000 feet, and 4 to 10 inches above 5,000 feet. Southwest to west winds are expected to gust between 20 and 40 miles per hour.

The Advisory applies to the south central and southern Oregon Cascades, Siskiyou Mountains. It includes Crater Lake and Diamond Lake and portions of highways 140, 62, 230, 138 and 58.

Forecasters said drivers should plan on slippery road conditions, primarily early Wednesday morning, with colder, temperatures behind the snow late Wednesday night.

Motorists should slow down and allow extra time to reach their destination. Carry tire chains and be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
