Roseburg Public Library patrons can now access services on Thursday evenings as the library has extended its hours to remain open until 8:00 p.m.

A City release said the library is now open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Its remains closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Director Kris Wiley said “The library is pleased to extend hours to provide additional opportunities for community members to access computers, connect to Wi-Fi, check out books, attend programs in person and gather in this beautiful place”.

Wiley said the library offers many new programs and events for children, youth and adults that are starting or resuming this month:

*”Storytime with Aurora” is now offered twice a week at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Youth Services Librarian Aurora Ropp reads stories, sings songs, does finger plays and ends with a craft for kids and families.

*Spanish Club returns to the library at 4:00 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays beginning this week. Youths from second through eighth grades can learn about Spanish language and culture with Julia Masner.

*An all-ages drop-in session building with Legos, Duplos, Magna-tiles and other objects will be offered from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. this Thursday.

*An online book group for adults will meet via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month.

*At 7:00 pm. on Monday October 16th, community-builder Mark Yaconelli, author of “Between the Listening and the Telling: How Stories Can Save Us”, will present an interactive workshop at the library.
