October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month and the Zonta Club of Roseburg has its 8th annual Zonta Dignity Drive underway.

A Zonta release said victims of violence are often forced to flee their home with little more than the clothing they are wearing. Residents can help restore the dignity of women in this situation by contributing new bras, panties, or sanitary products. All sizes in top and bottom garments are needed.

There are four Dignity Drive drop sites this year. Packaged garments can be dropped-off at the purple boxes at the YMCA of Douglas County, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews, and Sherm’s Thunderbird Market – all on Northwest Stewart Parkway. They can also be taken to the front desk of the Roseburg Public Library on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.

The drive is part of the Zonta Club of Roseburg’s HandUp program, which works in cooperation with Peace at Home Advocacy Center, Adapt/Crossroads, Safe Haven Maternity Home and other agencies to help women in life changing transitions. The donated items will be distributed to these partner agencies for women in need.
