The Roseburg High School Band placed 3rd in both the preliminary competition and the finals at the recent Pacific Coast Invitational band competition.

The event was held September 30th at Sprague High School in Salem.

There were 12 bands from around the state competing. RHS Band instructor Branden Hansen said the band earned a remarkedly high score at the event, setting a 20-year school record for highest score at a season opener. Hansen said the 120-member band will continue to perfect its Greek Mythology inspired show, “Wrath of Gods”. They are getting ready for upcoming competitions on October 14th at Grants Pass High School and October 28th at Autzen Stadium.

The band performs at every home RHS football game, in addition to the competitions and the Veteran’s Day parade. The RHS Marching Ensemble will also give a free performance for the public on Monday October 30th at 7:00 p.m.
