In the KQEN Cultural Spotlight:
Umpqua Community College has opened the Art Gallery this fall term, by featuring an exhibit of paintings described in the style of Magical Realism.
“Wilds Within” is now on display.
The coordinated exhibit features two artists, Tamara English and Kendra Larson, and showcases landscape paintings about the experience of inner life. The exhibit features what are called “awe-inspiring and engaging color that transports the viewer to another world”. Recent scientific studies, such as those highlighted in the New York Times, USA Today and Psychology Today, show that experiencing awe improves physical and mental health, according to a college release.
“Wilds Within” is on display at the UCC Art Gallery through October 25th. Gallery hours are weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
