The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Potential Outlook for flash flooding on area burn scars in Douglas and some nearby counties for early next week.

Forecasters said an atmospheric river will produce periods of moderate rainfall for southern Oregon and northern California. While this rainfall will be mostly beneficial, especially for ongoing fires, there is a risk that rainfall rates could be high enough to produce debris flows for some burn scars.

Forecasters said the Flood Potential Outlook applies to Douglas, Curry and southwest Josephine counties along with western Siskiyou County in northern California. This includes the areas of the Tyee Complex, Anvil, Flat, Chilcoot, Smith River Complex in Oregon and the Happy Camp Complex fires.

Most of the rain that could lead to this flooding is expected for Monday, but it could linger into early Tuesday.
