A Riddle man was jailed by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday for an alleged prior assault incident.

A DCSO report said on September 11th a victim said she and a man were involved in a physical altercation in the 500 block of L Street at approximately 1:00 a.m. The victim said the man punched her in the face causing a black eye, and bit her several times causing multiple bruises to her arms.

On Tuesday a deputy talked to the suspect. He admitted to the altercation but said he never hit, choked, or bit her. The man claimed that the woman attacked him and he only tried to get away. He was charged with fourth-degree assault and was held on $5,000 bail. The suspect was released on Thursday.
