Volunteers with Douglas County Master Gardeners are teaching two consecutive gardening classes on Thursday September 21st.

They will be held at the Discovery Garden on River Forks Park Road next to the park. The classes are:

*Simply Shrubbery, What’s Not to Like? – This class will show how permanent plants in the garden can provide benefits like shade, soil stability, seasonal beauty, and habitat for beneficial insects. Master Gardener Lorreen Robinson will lead the class, which begins at 10:00 a.m.

*Sustainable Gardening – For those wanting to garden with little access to water, Master Gardener Geoff Puryear will talk about how to start a low maintenance garden that requires less energy, time, and money to grow. This class will start at 11:15 a.m.

Participants can take one or both classes. No registration is required, only an interest to grow more sustainably. Those attending should dress for the weather and be ready to take notes.
