Douglas County Farmers Co-op will have the grand opening for their Winston location on Friday and Saturday.

The nearly 21,000 square foot facility includes a 16,000 square foot main store and a 5,400 square foot convenience store. A nearby barn has an additional 7,500 square feet that stores items like hay and feed. Combined with the fuel station, about 45 employees work at the Abraham Avenue location, which has been open since March. Ground breaking started in November 2021.

The official ribbon cutting is Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. Local government leaders, contractors and others who helped to build the store are expected to attend. A $2 hot dog lunch will be on sale from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Marketing Specialist Jennifer Dobratz said a number of vendors will be on site for the grand opening. That includes True Value, Purina Feeds, and animal health products company Durvet. Dobratz said Krispy Krunchy Chicken, Shell and Carson Oil will also participate. On Saturday, Wildlife Safari will bring some animals to the event.

A bucket sale will offer 20 percent off most items that fit in a bucket. Regular hours for this store are Mondays through Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays.
