The Friendly Kitchen/Meals on Wheels of Roseburg is still seeking volunteer drivers, due to what the organization is calling, “an extreme volunteer shortage”.
Drivers for Meals on Wheels deliver approximately 1,200 meals a week to over 200 vulnerable, homebound seniors in the community.
Volunteer Coordinator Casey Buller said, “Meals on Wheels of Roseburg has delivered nutritious meals for over 50 years, and today we find ourselves on the verge of having to halt meal deliveries”. Buller said the non-profit is asking community members to get involved so seniors can continue to be served.
Volunteer drivers are needed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from approximately 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Permanent or substitute driver positions are available. Go to www.friendlykitchen.org or call 440-7870 for more information or to apply.
Buller talked about the work of the organization and about the shortage, on the Morning Conversation Monday on News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN. That interview is a KQEN Podcast at www.541radio.com.
