A Glide man died in a two-vehicle wreck on Wednesday night.

Information released Saturday from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said shortly after 7:00 p.m. the accident was reported at the intersection of Buckhorn Road and Stocks Lane, just east of Roseburg. Deputies found one vehicle upside down with severe damage to the front end of the vehicle. A large SUV had severe damage to the driver’s side.

44-year old McConnel Coakwell was declared deceased by medical personnel. The other driver, 26-year old Haylie Ellison of Winston, was taken by ambulance to CHI Mercy Medical Center.

The report said it appeared Coakwell was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the sign at Stocks Lane. Ellison was turning east off Stocks Lane onto Buckhorn when the first vehicle hit the second one.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
