Sutherlin Police jailed a man following alleged harassment early Thursday.

An SPD report said just after 2:40 a.m. the 31-year old was taken into custody for allegedly starting a fire near Interstate Five and West Central Avenue. While searching the suspect’s person, the suspect reportedly spit in an officer’s face.

He was charged with aggravated harassment and for reckless burning. Bail was set at $2,500.
