A Roseburg man was cited for first-degree criminal trespass and depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway early Tuesday.

A Roseburg Police report said the 51-year old was contacted last week on railroad property east of the 2800 block of Northeast Stephens Street. He was warned of trespass at that time and instructed to leave the property. When officers returned at about 8:00 a.m. the suspect was back in the camp, sleeping on a mattress.

There were approximately three truckloads of debris and trash in the camp. The report said it will be challenging to remove, due to the grade and height of the rails in this area. The camp is only about ten feet from Newton Creek, which still has water passing through it.

The man was removed from the property after the citation was issued. The camp is scheduled to be cleaned on Thursday with a joint effort between the City of Roseburg and Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad.
