Sutherlin Police jailed a man on forgery charges on Monday.

An SPD report said just after 1:00 p.m. 49-year old Richard Kaufman was allegedly caught trying to pass fake $100 bills at businesses in Sutherlin. Kaufman was detained in the 100 block of Westwood Street. The fake bills were collected, seized and money and products were returned to the victim businesses.

Kaufman was detained on three counts of second-degree forgery. Bail was set at $18,750
