A Shedd woman died in a motorcycle versus vehicle crash on Saturday.
An Oregon State Police report said just after 3:15 p.m. troopers responded to the accident on Highway 38, at the intersection with Dean Creek Road, approximately three miles east of Reedsport.
The preliminary investigation indicated that an SUV, operated by a 79-year old Reedsport woman, was stopped on Dean Creek Road, preparing to turn westbound onto Highway 38. As it began to turn onto the highway, it pulled out in front of an eastbound motorcycle operated by 70-year old Lynn Kropf of Shedd. Kropf attempted to stop but the motorcycle fell to its side. The passenger of the motorcycle, 67-year old Marilyn Kroph, came off the motorcycle and impacted the rear of the SUV. She was declared deceased at the scene. Lynn Kropf suffered minor injuries and declined medical transport.
The operator of the SUV, and two passengers were not injured. The woman remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.
The highway was impacted for approximately 1.5 hours during the on-scene investigation. That investigation is ongoing.
