Roseburg Police jailed a man for a parole violation on Thursday.

An RPD report said at 2:30 p.m. officers allegedly watched a 62-year old man drinking a beer near the corner of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard and Northeast Jackson Street. Officers contacted the man and attempted to issue him a citation and contact his parole officer as it is a violation for the man to consume alcohol. The suspect allegedly attempted to run away but was quickly detained without incident.

The man’s parole officer issued the detainer and the suspect was taken into custody. He was also cited for drinking in public. The man was jailed without bail.
