A Heat Advisory remains in effect through 11:00 p.m. Thursday for central Douglas County.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said high temperatures of 95 to 101 degrees are expected. Hot temperatures may cause heat illnesses to occur.

Residents should drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Forecasters said people should take extra precautions if they work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening.
