The Bedrock Fire, in the Willamette National Forest, is now twenty percent contained.
An update from Northwest Interagency Management Team 12 said smoke shaded the fire on Monday, lowering temperatures slightly and moderating fire behavior. Smoke over the fire has prevented helicopters from safely flying. Firefighters and structural fire engine crews from the Oregon State Fire Marshal have begun preparation work around residences in Big Fall Creek.
Firefighters have successfully held containment lines on the northern and eastern portions of the fire for several days and are working to secure and deepen these fire lines. Fire crews are continuing to mop up and secure fire control lines on the southern fire edge.
The Bedrock Fire is listed at 25,780 acres. 1,071 personnel are assigned to the fire.
