A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Monday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. through Monday evening at 8:00 p.m. for a wide area of southern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said winds of ten to fifteen miles per hour with gusts between twenty and twenty-five miles per hour are possible.

The Watch area applies to fire weather zones that include the Umpqua Basin, Umpqua National Forest, western Rogue Basin, eastern Rogue Valley, Southern Oregon Cascades and Siskiyou Mountains.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions are possible during the valid watch time. These conditions could promote the rapid spread of wildfires which could become life threatening.
