Roseburg Police charged a man for second-degree theft following an incident on Wednesday.

An RPD report said at 10:15 a.m. officers contacted the 31-year old in a camp at Stewart Park in the 2000 block of Northwest Stewart Park Drive, and attempted to issue him a prohibited camping citation. The man allegedly placed his things in a newer Big Lots Shopping cart, then walked away from officers. Officers followed the man and told him to surrender the cart, because it belonged to the business, but he refused. Since the business wished to pursue charges, the suspect was taken into custody.

He was detained on $6,250 and was released later in the day.
