The Douglas District received lightning activity throughout Thursday night and early Friday morning and has a confirmed satellite count of sixty-six strikes.

The Douglas Forest Protective Association is currently actively engaged in lightning reconnaissance with ground and aerial resources.  As of 8:30 a.m. Friday, Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said there are five confirmed fire starts.

Pope said more information about locations, fire activity and resources allocated will be shared as information evolves.
