The Oregon State University Extension Service will have a Chicken Processing 101 workshop this Saturday.
It will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Twisted Wood Ranch in Glide.
An Extension release said the hands-on workshop will cover the basics of raising and processing meat birds. Participants will learn about chicken husbandry, chicken tractors, and will be processing birds into a sellable product, step-by-step. There will be information about the 1,000-bird law and how to sell chickens legally from an open-air processing facility.
Cost for the workshop is $10. Taking a processed bird home is an additional $25. Registration is required by Wednesday. Carpooling to the event is encouraged as parking may be limited.
To register call the OSU Extension Service at 672-4461.
