Both suspects have been identified and are now in jail after a series of alleged criminal incidents and an officer involved shooting on Friday.
An update from Roseburg Police said 43-year old Jessica Fossella-Yanez was taken into custody at approximately 8:50 a.m. Friday. As of early Monday afternoon, 30-year old David McKinsey-Pace was still hospitalized at CHI Mercy Medical Center in stable condition. He was released and taken to jail later in the day.
The pair were reportedly involved in a series of crimes over a two-hour period Friday morning. This followed what was called ‘a violent robbery and burglary” in Everett, Washington.
Fossela-Yanez and McKinsey-Pace allegedly car-jacked an SUV in the area of Northeast Fulton Street then eventually fled to the Melrose Store on Melrose Road where a second vehicle was allegedly car-jacked. The owner of that vehicle was run over during the incident, with the victim sustaining non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Mercy. McKinsey-Pace sustained two gun shot wounds from DCSO deputies at that time. He was taken to Mercy after being given first aid.
Fossella-Yanez reportedly took off in the stolen SUV but was apprehended in the 8400 block of Lookingglass Road after allegedly trying to enter an occupied home. She was taken to Mercy due to a report of fentanyl use but was jailed after being cleared from the hospital.
The Douglas County District Attorney’s Office has formally charged McKinsey-Pace with twenty-two counts. That includes attempted murder in the second-degree, second-degree assault, robbery in the second and third degree, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon, three counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, three counts of recklessly endangering another person and for attempting to elude a police officer.
The DA’s Office has charged Fossella-Yanez with nineteen counts. They include three counts of unauthorized use of a vehicle, two counts of possession of a stolen vehicle, second and third degree counts of robbery, attempting to elude a police officer, unlawful use of a weapon, two counts of first-degree criminal mischief, criminal mischief in the second degree, two-counts of reckless driving, four counts of recklessly endangering another person, and first and second degree counts of burglary.
Both suspects are detained without bail.
The Douglas County Major Crimes Team was activated due to the incidents. Roseburg Police are leading the investigation of the officer involved shooting.
No further information will be released at this time as the case remains an active investigation.
