Two people were cited by Roseburg Police for an early morning theft on Thursday.

An RPD report said at approximately 2:50 a.m. a neighbor in the 1900 block of West Bertha Avenue in Roseburg allegedly observed two people steal bags of cans off the front porch of a nearby residence.

While searching the area. Officers saw a 47-year old woman hiding behind a bush, holding three white trash bags full of cans. The suspect allegedly admitted to taking the cans from the residence and said a 30-year old man had also taken a bag of cans from the back porch of the residence.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy spotted the male suspect carrying a bag of cans in the 1200 block of West Harvard Avenue. The man was detained and brought back to the scene. The cans were returned to the home.

Both suspects were cited for third-degree theft and then were released.
