A Washington State transient was jailed on stolen vehicle and elude charges Wednesday night.
A Sutherlin Police report said at approximately 10:45 p.m. an officer attempted to stop an SUV for a traffic violation near the corner of West Central Avenue and Myrtle Street. The driver did not yield and continued into Roseburg allegedly driving recklessly. The driver eventually stopped and was taken into custody.
The man was identified as 24-year old Luis Hernandez-Campos. The SUV was confirmed to be stolen out of Washington. Hernandez-Campos had two warrants for his arrest. He admitted to being under the influence of fentanyl and provided a urine sample.
Hernandez-Campos was charged with attempting to elude police in a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless driving, DUII and for the warrants. He was detained without bail.
