The Umpqua National Forest has begun an operational closure of Forest Service Road 4713 and it will be in effect for the next two weeks.
A UNF release said the closure will allow for the installation of armored dips along the roadway. Armored dips will also be installed on Forest Service Road 4720, which is already closed due to road failure. Armored dips are installed across the roadway to help plugged culverts during a debris flow. When a culvert is obstructed, armored dips allow water to rise and flow over the road without causing road damage, which is critical to maintaining forest infrastructure.
Forest Service Road 4713 is estimated to reopen on July 19th.
