The Moon Mountain Fire, located on Moon Mountain east of Eugene, is now one hundred percent lined, one hundred percent plumbed with hose and water, and five percent mopped up, as of early Tuesday evening.

Natalie Weber of the Oregon Department of Forestry Western Lane District, said despite hot temperatures, windy conditions and low relative humidity, fire activity remained manageable with limited flare ups. Weber said firefighters were able to hold the fire within the perimeter they have created. Accurate GPS mapping has determined the fire is actually 34.4 acres, less than originally estimated. The cause remains under investigation.

Weber said evacuations that were put into place initially remain in effect.  The City of Eugene’s evacuation map has more information and continuous updates: https://www.eugene-or.gov/4732/Emergency-Evacuation-Zones

The Oregon State Fire Marshall mobilized firefighting resources to assist in fighting the fire. That includes personnel from the Douglas Forest Protective Association, Coos Forest Protective Association and other agencies.
