A small fire in a patient care area at CHI Mercy Medical Center on Northwest Stewart Parkway in Roseburg Friday afternoon, led to one person initially being reported to be in serious condition.

A post on the hospital’s Facebook page said the isolated incident took place at approximately 3:45 p.m. Due to the rapid response of the Mercy team and the Roseburg Fire Department, the fire was quickly contained. As a result of the situation and to ensure a safe environment, Mercy said patients may be temporarily moved to another room. The hospital remains open for patient care in all areas.

The post thanked the Mercy staff, security team and RFD for the fast response.

A Mercy spokesperson said there was no update on the injured person’s condition, as of early Saturday morning.

No further information was released by Mercy.
