One person was jailed and two were cited following two wrecks that occurred right after each other late Sunday.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 11:50 p.m. troopers responded to an accident on Interstate Five southbound about a mile south of Rice Valley. A pickup with a horse trailer was traveling in the fast lane when an SUV passed it on the left, on the gravel shoulder, before colliding with the pickup.

The report said the SUV then rolled and came to a stop on its roof in the fast lane. A secondary accident happened when the driver of a sedan was not able to see the SUV and crashed into it. The driver of the pickup fled the scene and was located later. He was cited for failure to perform the duties of a driver in an injury crash.

The driver of the SUV was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center and allegedly showed a blood alcohol level of .29 which is nearly four times the legal limit for intoxication while driving. That driver was cited for DUII and reckless driving.

The passenger in the SUV was jailed, charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and interfering with a firefighter or EMT. He was detained without bail and was released on Monday.
