Roseburg Police jailed a man after an alleged theft and a foot pursuit on Thursday.

The RPD report said at 10:50 a.m. officers responded to a business in the 2100 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway after a caller said there had been a theft. Officers located 30-year old Benni Mitchon under the Garden Valley Boulevard under pass and a chase began. A taser was deployed during the pursuit but it was ineffective.

Mitchon was taken into custody after a brief struggle at the intersection of West Umpqua Street and West Princeton Avenue. He was charged with resisting arrest, third-degree counts of theft and escape and for interfering with a police officer. Mitchon was detained on $20,000 bail.
