Staff with the City of Reedsport are welcoming new Chief of Police – John Carter.

A City release said Carter comes with more than twenty years of law enforcement experience. For the last nine years, he has been the Monticello, Illinois Chief of Police.  Carter has experience has experience in corrections, communications as well as fire and medical services. He also served as interim director for Piatt County Illinois Emergency Management. Carter has a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia College.

Carter said while grateful for the opportunities previously afforded to him in Illinois, he is ready to embark on a new career path with the Reedsport Police Department.
