A Winston man was jailed after an alleged drive-by shooting incident on Sunday.
A Douglas County Sherriff’s Office report said at 5:00 p.m. 28-year old Dillon McSperitt allegedly began threatening to kill people that a family member knew. He reportedly drove to a residence in the 2000 block of Roberts Creek Road near Green and fired between three and five shots at a victim, who was on a riding lawn mower. McSperitt then fled to his residence on Peach Lane.
Deputies located a lawn ornament with a round through it and two casings were found in the roadway, according to the report. Winston Police checked McSperitt’s house and stopped a pickup leaving the residence. The suspect was the passenger in the vehicle. McSperitt reportedly admitted to the incident. A search warrant was obtained where a deputy allegedly seized evidence of the crime.
McSperitt was charged with attempted second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, pointing a firearm at another, menacing and attempting to commit a Class B felony. He was detained without bail and was released on Monday.
