A pedestrian was hospitalized after running into traffic and being struck by a vehicle on Sunday night.

Information from Winston Police said the incident took place at the intersection of Northwest Main Street and Lookingglass Road just after 9:00 p.m.

Sergeant Mike Miller said the pedestrian flew up onto hood of the vehicle, continuing into the windshield. Miller said that rendered the vehicle unsafe to operate. The driver told officers she was traveling at about forty-five miles per hour and didn’t have time to stop when she saw the woman. Miller said the driving conditions were not ideal due the rain that was falling. There are no streetlamps on that section of roadway.

The exact extent of the woman’s injuries are not known to WPD.
