Senator Ron Wyden will be joined by 4th District Congresswoman Val Hoyle at a town hall event Thursday afternoon at Sutherlin High School.
The lawmakers will meet with residents starting at 1:00 p.m. While Wyden has been in office since 1997, and has held 1,042 town halls around Oregon since being elected, the event is one of the first for Hoyle. The former Oregon Labor Commissioner was elected to Congress in November to replace long-time Congressman Peter DeFazio, who retired.
Wyden and Hoyle are expected to address those attending and talk about issues they are working on in the nation’s capital. Then they will take questions and comments.
This is the second in-person congressional town hall in the county since the COVID-19 pandemic shifted the meetings to a virtual format in 2020. Senator Jeff Merkley held the first in-person meeting at Umpqua Community College on February 4th.
Senator Wyden will meet with Jackson County constituents in Phoenix on Friday.
Both members of Congress talked with News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN earlier this week. Those interviews are KQEN Podcasts at www.541radio.com
