A Roseburg home sustained significant structural and water damage in a fire early Wednesday morning.

City of Roseburg Fire Marshal Brian Jewell said at 3:00 a.m. fire personnel responded to a reported fire in the 1500 block of Southeast Overlook Avenue. Multiple callers notified dispatch of smoke and flames visible in the area of Fisher Drive and Overlook Avenue.

Jewell said a reporting party notified dispatch they were unaware if any residents were inside the home. It has since been determined that the homeowner was not in the residence at the time of the blaze.

Jewell said upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming from the west side of the structure. Firefighters made an exterior attack only due to conditions on the scene.

17 firefighters assisted with the fire. Assisting agencies included Douglas County Fire District No. 2, Umpqua Valley Ambulance, Roseburg Police Department, Pacific Power and Avista Utilities. A fire investigator was on the scene and the fire remains under investigation.
