The Oregon State University Extension Service is holding an Intro to Vermicomposting workshop on Saturday April 15th.

It will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the HealTerra Vermicomposting facility on Glide Disposal Site Road. HealTerra is a social enterprise of Source One Serenity, a local non-profit organization that helps veterans reclaim their sense of purpose through outdoor activities and land stewardship.

During this outdoor field tour, participants will learn the basics of vermicomposting. They will tour the facility, see how vermicomposting is done at the commercial scale, and how those techniques can be transferred to the home and farm scale. Those attending will learn about what types of food waste can be turned into compost and which worm performs best in a vermicomposting system.

The workshop is free but registration is requested. Carpooling is encouraged as parking may be limited. To sign up, call OSU Extension in Roseburg at 672-4461.
