OVER 1,900 METERS WITHOUT POWER IN DOUGLAS ELECTRIC SERVICE AREA

December 27, 2022 9:15 a.m.

As of mid-morning Tuesday, over 1,900 meters are without power in the Douglas Electric service area.

Assistant General Manager Phil Bigler said in addition to activating all of their crews, a number of contract crews have been called in to assist. Bigler said overnight early Tuesday they had crews get trapped behind downed trees and were forced to pull some of them out of those areas where trees were continuing to fall.

Douglas Electric is working on alternate feeds to get some areas restored but with the continued wind and weather, there are some areas that are not safe to access. Bigler said there are no firm estimates as to when power will be restored.
