With fall beginning Monday afternoon, high temperatures are expected to slowly drop in the Umpqua Valley this week.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that a low-pressure system to the south is driving a change in conditions. Highs will stay in the mid 70’s through Thursday. There is a chance of rain on Thursday night and Friday, with a small chance of thunderstorms around the region. Highs will range from the mid 60’s to low 70’s from Friday through Sunday.

The mercury reached 78 degrees at the Roseburg Regional Airport on Saturday and 81 degrees on Sunday.
