Sutherlin Police jailed a man for a reckless driving incident on Wednesday evening.

An SPD report said just before 9:30 p.m. a witness said a pickup was being driven recklessly in the area of North State Street and 6th Avenue. Officers responded to the area and saw large plumes of smoke and burnt tire marks all over the pavement. Through the investigation it was found that the 58-year-old man had been driving the vehicle recklessly and without regard for the safety of the public.

The driver was charged with reckless driving and resisting arrest. Bail was set at $12,500.
