Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife staff will be hosting in person meetings October 5th through the 8th to discuss the 2027 recreational bottomfish and Pacific halibut seasons with anglers.

A release from ODFW said the meetings will be held at four locations including:

• Tillamook on Monday, October 5th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the ODFW office.
• Brookings, Tuesday, October 6th, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Port Meeting Room at the Port of Brookings,
• North Bend, Wednesday, October 7th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the North Bend Public Library,
• Newport Thursday, October 8th, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at ODFW Marine Resources Program Conference Room.

The meeting on October 8th will be a hybrid meeting, available for recreators to participate in person or remotely online.

The release said discussion on the bottomfish fishery will reflect on how the fishery has progressed in 2026. ODFW officials will also be discussing bag limits and season structure for 2027, including the potential allowance of limited retention of yelloweye rockfish.

Discussion on the Pacific halibut fishery will focus on the proposals that will be adopted at the September meeting of the Pacific Fisheries Management Council for further public review.
