The Douglas Forest Protective Association is continuing with prescribed burns around the Umpqua Valley this week.

On Wednesday, a burn is scheduled to ignite at 3:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of Coos Bay Wagon Road. It will continue until approximately 5:00 p.m. and will be visible from Interstate 5, Highway 42, Camas, Lookingglass, Tenmile, Winston, Green and Roseburg

Other prescribed burns are expected on Thursday.

DFPA Public Information Officer Rachel Pope said so far this fire season there have been 78 fires which have burned 120 acres. The largest fire was on June 16th when the Little Rock Fire near Rifle Range Road in Roseburg burned 29.2 acres. The human-caused grass fire resulted from mowing and was highly visible in the Roseburg area. The fire had joint suppression from the Roseburg Fire Department and DFPA.
