Roseburg Police jailed a man following an alleged strangulation and assault incident on Thursday afternoon.

An RPD report said just after 4:00 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance in the 400 block of Northeast Winchester Street and contacted a female victim. She said that 41-year-old Joshua Hansen had grabbed her by the arms, causing pain. The victim claimed that Hansen had then put his hand over her mouth, restricting her breathing. The victim had an injury on her mouth consistent with her account. Hansen was contacted and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with felony counts of strangulation and assault and was detained without bail.
