Roseburg Police jailed a man for multiple charges following an incident on Wednesday evening.

An RPD report said at 6:00 p.m. officers contacted 27-year-old Harrison Carter at the Point in the 200 block of Southeast Pine Street after he was developed as a suspect in a theft that had occurred earlier in the day. Carter reportedly took off running, crossed the South Umpqua River, and hid from officers on Elk Island. A K9 responded and the suspect was located in the brush. He was taken into custody without incident.

Carter was charged with a felony warrant, third-degree escape, second-degree theft and two counts of second-degree criminal trespass. Bail was set at $8,750.
