Sutherlin Police have made an arrest in a burglary of a store that took place Friday night, where more than $50,000 worth of merchandise was reportedly stolen.

Chief Troy Mills said on Saturday at approximately 1:15 p.m. SPD responded to a reportedly burglary at Nexus Games, in the 1000 block of West Central Avenue.

Mills said officers quickly utilized Flock ALPR cameras throughout Sutherlin to identify a suspect vehicle and develop investigative leads. The investigation resulted in the identification of 38-year-old Lance Wayne Bratton of Roseburg as the suspect.

On Monday at approximately 9:00 a.m., SPD officers, with assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant at a residence on North Bank Road near Roseburg. During the search, officers located and recovered all of the stolen property from Nexus Games.

Bratton was contacted at the residence, taken into custody, and transported to the Douglas County Jail on charges of second-degree burglary and first-degree aggravated theft.

Mills said Flock ALPR technology was instrumental in solving this case and allowed investigators to quickly develop a suspect and advance the investigation. Mills said ALPR technology has become an important investigative tool in solving crimes throughout Sutherlin. He said it helps hold offenders accountable while providing victims with validation, closures, and greater confidence that law enforcement has the tools necessary to identify those responsible for the crimes committed against them.

The case remains under investigation, and additional charges may be pending.
