An electrical fire caused smoke damage to Ten Down Bowling and Splitz Bar and Grill on Tuesday morning.
A report from the Roseburg Fire Department said just before 11:00 a.m. personnel responded to a commercial fire alarm at the business in the 2400 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. Firefighters arrived on scene and an employee along with an RFD battalion chief approached the front door. Upon opening the door, smoke was found throughout the building. A second alarm was requested at that time.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, conducted a primary and secondary search, and stopped the forward spread of the fire to the remaining portions of the commercial structure. Firefighters then completed extensive ventilation of the building due to the large amount of smoke.
The commercial structure had both an automatic sprinkler system and a fire alarm system installed. The fire alarm had been activated, although the sprinkler system had not yet activated upon arrival on scene. A fire investigator determined the cause of the fire to be electrical in nature and related to the refrigerator/cooler in the restaurant portion of Splitz Bar and Grill. Fire damage was contained to the cooler and a nearby wall. There was smoke damage throughout the restaurant. There were no occupants in the building at the time of the fire as the business is closed on Tuesdays.
Roseburg Police Department assisted with the incident.
