The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office jailed a man for an incident in court on Wednesday.
A DCSO report said between 1:40 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. the 39-year-old allegedly to by- pass court rules and enter the court area on the third floor of the Justice Building ad the courthouse. Multiple deputies responded to the area to assist.
The man was reportedly being loud, refusing to follow simple instructions, and causing a disturbance by blocking the entrance to the courts by sitting down and refusing to exit the metal detector area. The man reportedly made several statements that he would not comply with court rules prior to entering the court area. He made several statements related to not moving from the area and demanding to be arrested.
After several minutes of attempting to de-escalate the subject and gain cooperative removal from the area, allowing court operations to resume, the man was taken into custody. He was escorted from the court area and was taken to the intake area of the jail. The man was charged with obstructing governmental/judicial administration and second-degree criminal trespass. He was detained without bail.
