Roseburg Police jailed a woman for a shopping cart theft on Wednesday.

An RPD report said at 9:10 a.m. officers contacted the 49-year-old at Eagles Park at the corner of Southeast Jackson Street and Southeast Lane Avenue. The woman allegedly had a Fred Meyer shopping cart in her possession. The retailer does not allow their carts to be transported off store property and will pursue charges against anyone contacted with a shopping cart off store property.

A detainer was authorized for committing a new crime by the suspect’s parole officer. She was charged with second-degree theft and a parole violation. Bail was set at $6,250.
