Two cold fronts are bringing light moisture to the Umpqua Valley through Sunday, providing the first measurable rain since June 8th, when 0.07 inches or moisture was recorded.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the Roseburg area should see an additional 0.17 inches of precipitation Friday and 0.06 inches of moisture Friday night. A second cold front Saturday is expected to bring 0.13 inches of precipitation during the day and an additional 0.05 inches of moisture on Saturday night. Sunday will have only 0.03 inches of precipitation according to current forecast models.
The Roseburg Regional Airport measured 0.17 inches of moisture between 12:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. Friday, with the first cold front bringing more precipitation than had earlier been expected.
Forecasters said dry conditions will return by Sunday afternoon, but afternoon high temperatures will remain below normal for most of next week.
Thursday’s high temperature at the airport was 80 degrees.
