ONE LAST HOT DAY BEFORE COOLING BEGINS IN THE UMPQUA VALLEY

Wednesday will bring last hot day before cooling begins in the Umpqua Valley.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Medford told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that a high of around 90 degrees is expected. That is over 10 degrees above normal for this time of year. Thursday will cool by about 10 degrees to around 80.

On Friday a cold front is expected to move into the area dropping afternoon highs to between 65 and 70 degrees through Sunday. Forecasters said the area might see light precipitation but amounts between only a trace and a tenth of an inch are most likely. The eastern Douglas County foothills will see a high amount of rain, according to current weather models.

The mercury reached 91 degrees on Tuesday at the Roseburg Regional Airport.
