DRIVER TAKEN TO HOSPITAL FOLLOWING FREEWAY WRECK TUESDAY

A driver was taken to the hospital following a freeway wreck on Tuesday afternoon.

An Oregon State Police report said just after 4:15 p.m. a trooper responded to the crash on Interstate Five northbound at milepost 79.5 south of Glendale. A vehicle lost control while negotiating a curve, then crashed into the median barrier and slid down the freeway.

Information from Rural Metro Fire said the driver was unable to exit the vehicle and had to be extricated. The 79-year-old man was transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center due to serious injuries sustained in the accident. The freeway was temporarily affected by traffic control during the incident. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
